Tim Hubble - Carp Angler?

Firstly let me say that I'm not an avid carp angler.  I don't spend every weekend camping in a bivvy but I do fish regularly and it is a passion I have had since I was a child.

Once a year I have a 'boys fishing trip' away for a week and we've been to many places over the last several years (France, Spain, Czech Rep, Sweden and many locations in the UK).   I look forward to this trip like a child waiting for Christmas.

We typically go for small waters where 3 or 4 of us can have exclusive access to the lake and this got me thinking about bait boats seriously.  The problem with these heavily fished locations is that the carp know where they are safe and are typically out of reach to an average caster like myself.  Distance is not usually a problem but overhanging branches and trees are.  I wanted to create something that would be reasonably cheap (I can't justify £400 on this) and would get the job done.  This site tracks my attempts and hopefully gives some insights into some of the challenges and pitfalls of trying this out for yourself.  Pics below from a  session a Docklow Pools specimen lake in 2013.  Am convinced I wouldn't have been as successful without a bait boat.
